Weekend Skincare Routine At Home
You may notice you have dry, oily or sensitive skin by the texture but do you really know your skin type? A weekend skin care routine can help you maintain healthy skin and improve skin concerns like acne, scars, pigmentation and dark spots, no matter what your skin type is. A daily skin care routine has four basic steps (cleansing, serum, moisturizer and sunscreen) you can do twice in a day. But your skin requires more than that. That’s what we are going to cover in this article today, a deep cleansing weekend skincare routine at home. Read on to know more.
For all skin types -
- Hydrate yourself by drinking at least 8 glasses of water each day.
- Change pillow cases once every week or switch to silk pillow cases.
- Loose braid or wrap up hair (silk turban) before bed.
Wear sunscreen every day (even if you are not going outside) and re-apply 15 minutes before going out.
Weekend Skincare Routine At Home
If you are new, start with a basic and easy to follow skincare routine to know how your skin reacts.
Once your skin becomes comfortable with the skincare routine, you can start to add extra products such as scrubs, masks and spot treatments to boost your skin’s health.
Here, I am sharing my weekend skincare routine.
Start with steaming your face
Face steaming opens up the pores and helps to loosen buildup of dirt for deeper cleansing.
Also, it softens blackheads and/or whiteheads, making them easier to remove.
In order to steam your face, you can either use a bucket filled with warm water and cover your head with a towel or you can use a steamer.
Opening up the pores will help to remove the dead skin cells and other impurities that clogs the pores which contributes to future breakouts.
Also, it boosts the blood flow which nourishes your skin and delivers oxygen resulting in a healthy glowing skin.
Use pore extraction tool
Before you even pick up your pore extraction tool, your face and hands need to be properly cleaned.
You should use these tools for blackheads only.
To remove blackheads, I use a needle-like pore extraction tool.
It is easy to extract whiteheads/blackheads after steaming your face.
All you need to do is place the tool around your nose and press it so that the blackheads come out.
Extractions are beneficial as it will unclog the pores and prevent breakouts.
Scrub/Exfoliator for a smooth skin
Face scrubs or exfoliators can help in revitalizing your skin and restores the skin’s natural glow.
Using a scrub is useful as it removes the dead skin cells and improves the texture of the skin.
Using a face scrub once a week can help to unclog the pores and enhance the skin tone.
As the dead skin cells reduce by exfoliating skin timely, it results in fading the spots and scars making the skin flawless.
Also, it helps in absorbing the skincare faster thereby reducing the signs of ageing.
Don’t forget the face mask
To step up your skincare routine, there is nothing better than a face mask.
The right mask will tackle the main skin concerns, from dryness and dehydration to large pores and acne.
Just like face serums and moisturizers, face masks deliver active ingredients and nutrients but the only difference is that it allows the skin to absorb these nutrients more efficiently.
Last but not the least, don’t forget to end your weekend skincare routine with your daily skin care regime/routine (cleansing, serum, moisturizer and sunscreen ).
